At Milagro we have a big communal parking area with a mix of open bays, covered bays, and a very few fully-enclosed carports. Two handicap-accessible houses have their own adjacent carports. Rain is seldom an issue in Tucson AZ, so most people drop off at the start of the main walkway leading to the houses, and transport goods onwards by handcart or by the communally owned golf-cart in the case of heavy stuff. FYI, we found a non-toxic, water-permeable paving alternative to asphalt and concrete - "Gravelpave", more details at www.invisiblestructures.com/GV2/gravelpave.htm It works well for us though it was very labor-intensive to lay and needs occasional raking. If you can create a rain-sheltered central drop-off area and walkway, surely that could work for you?
