This is to let you know about a new forming community in Colorado,
called Tumblerock. We currently have three families, one in the Denver
area and one on each coast, who have been meeting for a few months to
define our vision and begin building the processes a solid community
needs. Our coastal families both plan to have moved to Colorado by
about a year and a half from now; in the meantime, we have lively
phone meetings and Internet conversations between visits in Colorado.

Now we are seeking other households interested in joining with us.
We're looking for a site in the area between Denver, Boulder, and
Golden, Colorado. We plan to build an intergenerational community,
including families with children and adults of all ages without
children. All three families currently involved have young children
(ages 2-9), and we hope to find new members who will increase our
diversity of household types as well as families whose children will
grow up with ours. To learn more, or if you would like to join us,
please contact Deborah Mensch at (925) 689-2429 or
deborah-tumblerock [at] bitgems.com.

We hope to build our membership based on a clear values and vision
statement, which will help guide our decisions going forward. Our
three core values are:

 - Family/Intergenerational Orientation (an interconnected,
child-friendly culture that also respects the needs of adults)

 - Sustainability (a community that lives lightly on the Earth and
stewards our human resources wisely for the long haul)

 - Quality of Life (flexible facilities for a variety of lively and
contemplative activities, and a relaxed pace of living that helps us
relate to each other as human beings first)

When we have our website up with the complete vision statement and
more information, you'll hear it here first.

The name "Tumblerock" is inspired by the idea that members of a living
community are like rocks in a polishing tumbler -- the longer we stick
around, the more we smooth each other's sharp edges. As time goes on,
we live and work better with each other, and the community we build
together grows stronger.

In growing community,
Deborah Mensch
