As the person who responds to voicemail calls made to the Cohousing Association, as often as once or twice a month I hear from an individual or a couple who really wants to live in cohousing, but simply cannot afford to purchase a unit in any community (and at the same time has too many resources to qualify for one of the few very subsidized units available). This is our problem- we are interested in cohousing, but every area we've looked in seems to be buildingsquite out of our range. We are already homeowners, and would love to sell our house and buy another comparable one, but most of the cohousing sites we've looked into are higher then our budget! with two small kids, a tiny condo wouldn't do well for us, so it seems we'll be looking for another house outside of co-housing.
