Let's not rehash it again.
One of the problems with mixing old and new members on the same list is that the old members are tired of topics that are vital to the new members. Searching the archives for messages takes away from the feeling of conversation and currency that question and answer has. It's more like doing research.
The old members are needed on the list to help the newer members but they do get bored sometimes. I think it's important to remember that the list changes as new people join and older people unsubscribe either because they have joined a community or have given up on the idea.
We once talked about starting a list for people who had been in cohousing for 5 years to focus on different kinds of questions but nothing ever happened.
