[end quote] An important component of soundproofing is to put in offset studs in shared walls, because a lot of the noise that carries between units goes thru the studs. I visited Two Echo cohousing in Brunswick, ME in 2000 and saw a duplex unit that was under construction. They pointed out the offset studs and I got a good look at them. Bob Morrison
