I have either lost or didn't "get" what the initial post was trying to convey. In any event, I think that what Tom says below needed to be added to the discussion. Personally, I greatly value having the diversity in ages and genders. As one who is approaching my 8th decade and has been living in EcoVillage at Ithaca since its inception (our move-in date of 1996), I/we have been fortunate to have a good range of ages and there has, in my view, an often demonstrated appreciation for all of them. Speaking of "often," I have often been surprised at the extent to which the younger adults here have initiated care and concern for those on in their years. monty Berman> Today's Topics:> > 1. As a male who does everything I possibly can to support women, I get very tired of all the male bashing jokes or references to males as > "testosterone driven", etc. We men are naturally sensitive, caring, loving, committed to the environment, intelligent, and nurturing. > Those of us who are not have been taught by our culture to be otherwise.> > Personally, I want a cohousing community with diversity, and a lack of > men or women would start me on a path of recruiting more of that gender.> > Tom Hammer> Concord Ecovillage> Chester County, PA> > If you want peace, work for justice.
