At Sharingwood we use email headers to help us sort through email. One such header is called, Shirleys list, which is our way to let people know stuff we have to give away. Although the scale of cohousing-l is larger than my community, using this list in such a way might work, since in reality most such things would go to the community of origin first and then to the greater list, so it may not add much traffic to this list. The header could be something simple like: Free stuff: Framed portraits of Craig Ragland inside the message would be details, if you were not interested you could just delete the message based on the header. If this were tried out for say, three months, we could then evaluate if it creates too much email, or is not useful. In my own world, I find email to be a much more effective mechanism for changing information than a website. I personally rarely look at the Cohousing website but read at least half the emails on this list. Rob Sandelin Sharingwood, Snohomish County, WA
