I like this idea Craig, but think it should be limited to community 
offering stuff to other communities, and not  between individuals 
(unless an individual has a lot of something that community as a 
group might want. I wonder whether barter offers might be accepted in 
that section too.

I have another idea for free ads. That would be free ads for a 
limited time period in a particular category when that category is 
being introduced, whether or not it's free stuff or a free service. 
And here's a suggestion for a first one of that kind, and is for 
something where no money would change hands:

Summer vacation unit exchanges for 1-3 weeks during the period 
mid-June through August.....Ads are free April 1 to August 1.

I know that this isn't exactly a new category, but I think it is has 
been imbedded in a much akin to a category that hasn't been used very 
much so far.

By the way, there was only one request for/inquiry about the dishes 
(I think perhaps the high cost of shipping  discouraged others), and 
it was from Berkeley Cohousing, less than 2 miles from here. Of 
course one of their residents came to pick the dishes up so the 
shipping cost was essentially......free!
