This is a solicitation to help out a new "business" at an established,
but growing Ecovillage in rural Missouri. I've visited Dancing Rabbit,
an Ecovillage It is a truly inspiring place that has been a model for
many other ecovillages.

I just followed their request to vote for the Milkweed Mercantile on
the IdeaBlog website.

Milkweed wants to help serve Dancing Rabbit visitors - something that
would be a great service to both Dancing Rabbit and their many
visitors. I'd urge you to consider taking 3 minutes to register for
IdeaBlog and vote for their idea... so, if you have a few minutes and
want to help out a vibrant intentional community, your help would be
appreciated.

So, what's the connection of this to Cohousing? An emerging model in
cohousing world is the blending and cross-over between the concept of
ecovillage and cohousing...

Want to learn more? Check out these communities:

Ecovillage at Ithaca - New York-based community that hosts 2 cohousing
neighborhoods and is working on a third
Columbia Ecovillage - a building Oregon-based cohousing group that is
blending a Permaculture Center with retrofit cohousing
Coho Ecovillage - established Oregon-based cohousing community with
some really creative ideas around the cross-over
Earthaven - established North Carolina ecovillage using cohousing for
a portion of their housing

You can google these groups (or find 3 of them in the Cohousing Directory):

In community,

Craig

Dear Friends of Dancing Rabbit,

Alline Anderson and Kurt Kessner here. We've been Rabbits since 1999,
and are the proprietors of the Milkweed Mercantile, a privately-owned
B&B/Organic Cafe/Green General Store (designed to be a DR business
incubator and hospitality center for DR visitors) opening December
2008. If you have received one of these emails already, we apologize
for the duplication and thank you for your support! If this email
feels like spam we apologize.

We are writing to ask for your help (it doesn't cost a penny). The
Milkweed Mercantile, and by association Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage,
have the opportunity to make history, but need your help to succeed.

We are in the running to win a $20,000 no-strings-attached cash award
at Ideablob.com. We are currently 224 votes behind the Goliath-like
leader. However, we are not discouraged (much). 224 votes are NOTHING!
If every single person who receives this email votes, and asks just
one friend/spouse/colleague to vote, we can win! This is one situation
where one person really CAN make a difference, but to do so you have
to vote by Midnight, Tuesday, September 30 (two days from now!).

The winning is not just about the money, although that would be
tremendously helpful. It is about showing that a sustainable life is
possible, that businesses can be ethical as well as profitable, and
that solar and wind power are viable alternatives to petroleum.

Voting takes 3 minutes (we timed it). Please go to
http://www.ideablob.com/ideas/3233-Strawbale-off-grid-business-ope and
register. You will be directed back to your own email to confirm the
registration. After you click on the link in your email you can vote
for us: Strawbale off-grid business.

Thank you so much - for reading this, for (possibly) voting, and for
supporting the Milkweed Mercantile at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage.

For more information about the Milkweed Mercantile, please go to
http://milkweedmercantile.com

with gratitude,
Alline and Kurt
