It was posted by Fred, the Cohousing-L list manager <fholson [at] cohousing.org> -------------------- FORWARDED MESSAGE FOLLOWS -------------------- Dear Cohousers of the U.S. and Canada, In April Jim Leach, Annie Russell and myself are holding a workshop specifically geared to seniors attempting to plan and organize new senior cohousing communities in North America. There's a reason that a small country of 5 million (Denmark) has 250 senior cohousing communities and our country of 300 million has only three. And that reason is the lack of the kind of discussion that we're going to be having in Boulder from April 20th to 24th. And while intergenerational cohousing is beautiful (I live in an intergenerational community of 94 people, 21 of which are seniors); it turns out that not all seniors want to live around kids, and I have seen many times that in intergenerational cohousing the needs of the kids is usually the agenda and careers and spouses. Sometimes there is too little time for the seniors. In Senior Cohousing, seniors and their needs are the agenda. And I've never seen folks have more fun than seniors in Senior Cohousing since the college dorms. So, in the name of advancing the cause, I kindly ask that share workshop flyer at http://justcomm.org/temp/temp33.pdf with other members of your community I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks very much, Chuck Durrett McCamant & Durrett Architects 241-B Commercial Street Nevada City, CA 95959 530.265.9980 charles.durrett [at] cohousingco.com http://www.mccamant-durrett.com
