One thing we learned in our developing EcoVillage project is that the  
F-word (FARM !) is anathema to insurance companies. The EcoVillage has  
lots of vegetable garden, but is really just a little CSA project for  
members and a few others. Hand tools, rakes, shovels and trowels. But  
to insurance companies, "farm" conjures up gigantic machines that maim  
and kill. Insurance rates become astronomical. In your case it may  
truly be "farming" in an undeniable way, but describing operations  
like ours as gardening, or such, was important in terms of  
understanding by insurance companies.
