At Sharingwood we employ a member as bookkeeper. For late payments, if you
have a balance due later than 90 days the unpaid balance accrues interest at
I think 8%. We used to run our bulk food program with in-house accounting
which meant someone could get a substantial unpaid balance. Now we operate
that system on a pay as you order which has reduced our unpaid accounts to a
very minor level. Also the treasurer, who is separate from the bookkeeper
makes personal contacts with late balance owers to understand their
situation. Sometimes the board makes special dispensation based upon
situation.
