I might suggest smaller individual kitchens in this case, along with a big 
communal kitchen that people could sign up to use.  Working with a group of 
people who don't know each other, I doubt you would end up with communal 
meals.  More likely people would end with a sign up to ration kitchen use 
during peak hours and having a lot of conflict over who could use it when.
