We have a bike building that we call the bike barn. At last inventory it had:
In the bike barn last Sunday there were 61 adult bikes, 16 kids bikes, 9 trailers (+1 sidecar), 8 trailabikes, 4 recumbents, 5 tandems, and 3 trikes. (Not including bike items on individuals' porches or on the path.
You can see it at https://www.cohoecovillage.org/homes/plans/sitedesign.800.jpg. It's the long building between the community and the parking lot. It is unheated. We are planning to create a pool of loaner bikes and trailers which could be for use by anybody- residents or guests. We also have a bicycle repair area in the bike barn, and a section with extra security for bikes. Nancy cohoecovillage.org . On 9/29/2010 7:40 AM, Fred H Olson wrote:

I live in a "biking town" (Davis, CA), but Copenhagen clearly puts us to shame.A number of the cohousing communities we visited way back in 1999 had bicycle parking rooms or sheds. For example: http://l.cohousing.org/dk99/tourpix/JE_bikerm.jpg Ideally such things have a separate or easy access from outdoors. I think many buildings in Europe (wich is generally way ahead of us in biking) have bike rooms. Do any US communities have bike parking rooms? Recently I realized that the recumbent bike I've been riding for about a year ( see http://fholson.cohousing.org/bicycles/sunez5.jpg ) has potential for carrying more because the pedals wont bump into things suspended from the rack. I have yet to develop this potential. FRed -- Fred H.
