Muriel - We  have a system that works fairly well.  We have two baskets on
the counter.  One is for clean 'towels' and the other is for 'used' ones.
However, the towels I am speaking of are tiny.  Someone has gone to the
trouble of edging many small pieces about 6" X 6".  Then they are collected
and thrown in with the rest of the common house laundry after meals.
Therefore, they are only used once.  Would that solve the germ problem for
you?  Alison
