Brown University, for example, has said that no organization connected to Brown can meet at any Sheridan for anything. I'm sure the union is putting pressure on other organizations, particularly any organization with unionized workers. > What would happen if the conference had been cancelled or moved (at > great expense to the association) and then the strike was resolved? The union workers I spoke with wanted a copy of the CohoUS contract with the Sheridan to be sure that there was no clause that would allow walking away with no penalty. They believe that the Sheridan was supposed to inform CohoUS of the union boycott many many months ago. They didn't. They were also looking for space for which there would be no charge like the AFL-CIO headquarters and a hotel associated with the Sheridan that is not under boycott. Then we could negotiate to move without a penalty. This is a complex situation with poor communication on the part of the union, if not CohoUS. At this point it is too late to change things.
