An occasional problem we have is that of thwarting: Person A is holding a
grudge against Person B or Committee Y, and pretty much blocks (or more
precisely, delays) everything the other party seeks to accomplish. Since
everyone in Cambridge is very smart, these thwarts are usually dressed up in
high-falutin' rationalizations — but basically, it's all interpersonal.
Sometimes what we need is neither facilitation or process methodology, but
psychotherapy.

Interestingly enough, we've recently succeeded in coaxing one of our chronic
blockers to stand aside rather than thwart. Are we making progress? Or not?
