Shareable units in cohousing (was Unit mix/size)

19 years ago I had an idea for what I call a shareable unit, which could be
in a coho or non-coho community. My idea is very similar to what Susan Green,
Mariana Almeida, and others on this thread suggested. I don't know of any cohos
in the US that have such a unit. I wish more of them did. Most coho units that
are large enough to be shared by two or more unrelated people have a design
that makes such sharing awkward. I myself would not have a housemate in a
conventional coho unit, but would be willing to have one in a "shareable unit".
In addition to holding down costs, one reason why a shareable unit should
have a shared kitchen is that in most places if a living space has its own
kitchen, under zoning it's considered a separate dwelling unit.
