Sorry, that was meant for Ann. 

When we first moved-in, people were making fabulous meals and inviting all 
their friends. One was an authentic Thai banquet, for example. They were huge 
and exhausting and pretty much killed our meal program. No one wanted to 
compete. And no one really wanted to serve 60 people — many of whom were not 
community members.

Finally Joani Blank came to visit and convinced Ann we needed to do Soup 'N 
Simple. That started a regular Monday night meal, usually soup, rice, and 
salad. Ready made cookies and fruit for desert. People sign up for a rotation 
in which every one is on a cook team. Occasional guests attend and pay $4.

And when there is a famous guest, there will be 60 people helping or paying.
