We are a standard cohousing community, with people of all ages,
but the trends are clear: most of our owner members are nearing
retirement age, and most of the younger members are renters.

We too are seeing a time in the not too distant future when fewer
people will be able to do the more physical chores, e.g. climbing
up tall ladders to clean gutters and dryer vents. We are starting
to talk about hiring help to do more of these kinds of chores.

We have had mixed success getting renters to help get the work
done. (Because of the economy we have three units with rental
ceiling exceptions, giving us a higher proportion of renters than
we had planned.)

The national demographics predict that as the baby boomers age,
more and more homeowners will be retired. It looks like our best
hope is that the national economy will improve, allowing more
younger people to be able to purchase homes.

We are a senior targeted cohousing community in Boulder CO and I
would love to know how other communities both Senior and Multi
Generational are dealing with jobs/chores/projects that the
community won't or is not able to perform?
