Thanks for the subject-lines linkage, Fred, to make it easier for people
searching in the future to find this topic.

Note that the story is not yet fully told in the messages so far, and not
yet over for Alice. Our community's affordable-housing limited-equity deed
restriction with the city is still undergoing review by HUD's attorneys. We
believe it complies with HUD requirements, but know of a couple technical
issues there, and look forward to taking their guidance back to the city's
attorneys who are willing to fix it but awaiting that guidance. The most
useful piece of this whole engagement is that it got that review process
underway.

This meeting and celebration happened just Tuesday of this week; I just got
home yesterday, and need to write up my notes in additional campaign blog
posts and messages. Alice is still in DC (enjoying her first extended visit
there in half a century, BTW, and her first flight in a quarter century).

Some related topics that I hope to explore in future posts:
* How our campaign was possible thanks to the web of relationships/networks
of people in cohousing, and our allies/fans everywhere
* What we learned and shared in our meeting at HUD (including photos)
* Why FHA approval matters (hint: it's not just about reverse mortgages)
* Best practices in cohousing condo budgets, reserves, and legal documents,
and why they matter at times like this
(Sharon Villines and I had a conversation about this while I was at TVC)
* Resources/organizations who can help with obtaining approval

Raines

P.S. Ann's original message that started the original thread is now up on
the Coho/US blog, the Aging in Community campaign site, and her Cohousing
Blog site. The latter two have more images and links.
