Hi folks, Greetings cohousing friends!I am writing with a short-notice opportunity for groups in the wider SF Bay Area. Years ago i taught group skills down in California quite a bit, working with many cohousing communities in all stages of development on facilitation, consensus, policy development, and so on. After a while the travel got to be too much and i stopped working in California; these days my work takes place almost all in Oregon. However, an old friend has coaxed me into presenting at this conference http://groundswell.institute/our-programs/west-coast-communities-conference/ (which i encourage y'all to consider attending). As a result, i will be making a trip to northern California, and thus am available to teach either the weekend before or after the event next month.
If your group would like facilitation work and/or group skills training either OCTOBER 3-4 or OCTOBER 17-18, i will give the time to whichever group commits first. At this time i'm offering one weekend or the other, rather than both; my preference would be for the earlier time slot if possible. I'm also open to other possibilities, such as splitting a weekend between two groups, a joint workshop for multiple groups, or a workshop for open public enrollment--so if i hear back from folks with interests that seem to line up that way we can coordinate something along those lines. Aside from the weekend, i could also do a shorter weeknight presentation.
For trainings, typical topics i teach on include: -- Consensus Decision-Making (minimum one full day) -- Meeting Facilitation -- Group Works: Pattern Language for Nourishing Community -- Appreciative Inquiry -- Planning for Great Meetings -- Communication Skills for Feedback and Peacemaking -- Crafting Excellent QuestionsFor facilitation, among cohousing groups the most popular topic for years has been participation policy; i am happy to facilitate productive conversation on that or whatever else is your priority at this time.
Further information is available on my website at www.treegroup.info.It's been ages since i've been active on or read this list, these days i work with a wide spectrum of organizations with less focus on community living. I won't see a reply if it only goes to the list, you'll need to write me directly at this address (tree [at] ic.org). I'm teaching at a conference in Portland this week so less available than usual, will try to check email when i can. Once i'm back from that i will be ready to focus on preparing for any California sessions. I hope life is well with each of you reading this and that your communities are thriving.
