Hello Yusuf —

This reminds me of the Cooperative system we have here in the US.

In a cooperative, you own shares in the corporation, you occupy a home but you
don’t own the home. When you want to move, you sell your shares.

Coops are very popular in NYC. We even have quite a few here in DC.

One of the oldest, largest and most successful coops is right outside DC:
Greenbelt. It was developed by the federal government to house returning
veterans returning from WWII.

And of course we have the National Cooperative Bank.

I’m not an expert in housing coops so I don’t know about the flexibility talked
about in the FAQs on the Sun Villages website e.g. selling your shares to
reduce your rent. Haven’t heard of that but it’s sure a nice flexibility!
