Hi Ty, do you have the book "Consensus-Oriented Decision Making"? To be
honest, I've only read the first couple of chapters, but the premise seems
to be that you can incorporate a lot of the consensus mentality -- working
to find a creative solution that works for as many people as possible,
listening to everyone's ideas with an open mind, understanding that
everyone has a piece of the truth, etc -- whatever method you use to make
the actual decision. So you can vote or use consensus (consent,
stand-aside, or block) to make the actual decision, and still incorporate
all those other good things. If you vote, you don't get stuck with people
who don't have sufficient background in consensus, and use the block too
readily, and people can gradually increase their understanding of how to
work constructively, without getting stuck in the blocking trap.
