The recipients will receive messages in their normal messaging apps. The
hitemup function just automates the repetitive aspects for you, so each
message is 1:1 to each recipient. Apparently there are options within the
app you'll have to review; My experience with that aspect is limited so
far. The Hitemup does provide options for emailing from the same app. But
it won't help if the phone is off or in DND mode.

That said, the app has a good Help section which includes videos on
"sending options and modes" etc.  The developer(s) work out of California;
