Hello to All: Skagit Commons is a community in its first five years. We use sociocracy as our system of governance. We have a monthly all-community meeting, called our General Meeting. In our earliest years, we used the General Meeting for all community decision making. In a community of 30 units, that makes for long meetings and difficulty coming to decisions. In following sociocracy, we now have pushed many of our decisions out to circles with specific areas of responsibility. That leaves us thinking about what the stated aims (purpose) and domains (areas of control) should be for our General Circle. We still have some decisions that need to be made at the General Meeting. We want to include some elements of fun and we want some elements of relationship building. I am curious how other communities use their meetings of the whole? And if you have a stated purpose or aim for these meetings? Thank you Marina King Process Circle Lead Skagit Commons
