Lancaster Cohousing in the UK owns Halton Mill, which has managed offices
and studios, a coworking space, and event space. It runs as a separate
coop and pays rent to the cohousing project which is set to cover costs
rather than make a profit. We had to take out a loan to do the restoration
of the building when we first moved in, and the rent covers the repayment
of the loan - so in 20 years or so it will be profit. (but then we will
decide if that's what we want).
