Hello,

My upcoming class, Sociocracy for Communities, Part One, is on
Saturdays starting January 4th, and goes for five weeks until Feb 1st.
Times are 10 am-12:30 pm Pacific Time and 1:00 -3:30 pm Eastern. I’m
excited about Sociocracy in cohousing because meetings can be so
empowering, effective, and enjoyable when Sociocracy is used correctly
and the group uses all its parts. (Because Sociocracy is a whole
system, each part benefits and reinforces every other part.)

Cohousing communities using Sociocracy and loving it include (longtime
groups) Cherry Hill in Amherst and Cohabitat Quebec in Quebec City,
(new communities) River Song in Eugene and Washington Commons in West
Sacramento, and (forming communities) Treehouse Village Ecohomes in
Nova Scotia and Rachel Carson Ecovillage in Pittsburgh. Here’s what
some Cherry Hill members have said about using it:

"We've made more decisions in the past two months than we have in the
past two years!”"

"People are happier and more satisfied and getting more done."

My January 4 class focuses on three of the most important aspects of
Sociocracy: Proposal-Forming, Evaluation Questions, and Consent
Decision-Making. It also covers effective Sociocracy meetings.

Sociocracy for Communities, Part Two, on Saturdays from Feb 22nd to
March 22, covers everything else: Selecting People for Roles,
Role-Improvement Feedback, Consenting to Circle Members, and
Sociocracy's Circle Structure. The cost is $175-$250 sliding scale,
with a special discount for five or more from the same group.

My very favorite quotes about Sociocracy in communities:
'A visitor said she'd never seen a community meeting be so
effective, efficient, and fun!"" —Hope Horton, Common Ground
Ecovillage, Chapel Hill, North Carolina

"I would never have joined the community if we didn't use Sociocracy.
It’' our saving grace." —Kreel Hutchison, Baja BioSana Ecovillage, La
Paz, Mexico

And a quote about a past Sociocracy course:
"I loved this course. Who knew community governance could be so fun!"
— Jeff Conklin, River Song Cohousing, Eugene, Oregon

The four main benefits for cohousing are better meetings, getting more
done, being better organized, and feeling more connected to other
group members. If you'd like to join us in this lively and enjoyable
class, please check out the above link now. Thank you!
