Hi, Mac,
Congratulations to you and your neighbors on twenty five years and moving 
forward with construction!

We are about to have our annual Cannie Awards Evening [Cantines Island=Cannies.]

They are a great highlight every year.  Great fun.  Of course,  some changes 
year to year.

We often include a talent show:  some have included very funny pantomimes…..  
group dances and songs, etc.  

Sometimes we often even decorate the CommonHouse……

We usually dress up.

This is one time we do not provide our own food: we have a meal we order from 
elsewhere,  and have been hiring High School students to clean up[!] 
We’ve done this affordably.  

Aaaaannnndddd The Cannies:  
our neighbor writes brilliant funny awards categories.  He chooses one person 
to read each of the award categories [always humorous]  and to then call up the 
recipient of the award: a can of tomato paste.  Lots of hilarity. Sometimes 
humorous thank yous from the recipients.    Categories themselves are pretty 
funny.  Sorry we’ve never taped these.  

Heartwood could likely figure out your own version…….  given the reason for the 
celebration, award recipients could receive Golden Corks…. commemorating the 
popping of corks for your celebration…….. and corks could be collected over the 
year for future celebrations, if it is a success……….

Subject: [C-L]_ Big Celebration Ideas?

Heartwood Cohousing will be hosting a big celebration in a few weeks. We?ll be 
celebrating our 25th Birthday and also groundbreaking for our Phase 2 
construction. Yee ha!

I?m wondering what types of activities you?ve held at your communities that 
were particularly fun or moving or a success in whatever way.

We will of course have the obligatory breaking of the ground with shovels and 
popping champagne. And I?m sure there will be a birthday cake.

Any other recommendations?
