Hi there,

Next weekend is your chance to step inside one of Seattle’s most well-known
cohousing communities and kick off a three-part series exploring cohousing in
practice. This series of tours and conversations is designed for cohousing
professionals, allied practitioners, and anyone curious about cohousing and
community-rooted housing models, leading up to The Cohousing Summit: Seattle on
May 16, 2026.

Cohousing: Development Models
Saturday, February 7 | 10:00am–12:00pm
Join us for a tour of Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing (CHUC), a nationally
recognized urban community across from Cal Anderson Park and the Capitol Hill
light rail station. Featured in Grace Kim’s TED Talk, CHUC was founded in 2010
and completed in 2016. Designed by Grace Kim and Mike Mariano of Schemata
Workshop, the project includes 9 homes, a common house, courtyard, rooftop
farm, and solar. Stay for a discussion on different development pathways for
cohousing.

Cohousing: Home Sales
Saturday, February 28 | 10:00am–12:00pm
Tour Corvidae Co-Op, a newly completed, developer-led cohousing community that
creatively used ADU and DADU opportunities across two adjacent single-family
lots. The result is 10 homes in a mix of types, including townhomes, a basement
ADU, and a main house with three for-sale units. Developer and architect Leah
Martin of Allied 8 will lead the tour, followed by a realtor-focused
conversation on marketing homes in cohousing, moderated by Grace Kim.

Cohousing: Architectural Design
Saturday, March 28 | 10:00am–12:00pm
Explore Crow Woods, a recently completed cohousing community designed around a
wooded outdoor space. After an earlier attempt to form a group, founder Jane
Lester moved forward by purchasing property and developing the community
herself. She partnered with architect Robert Humble of Hybrid Architects to
create a 9-unit neighborhood that supports everyday connection. Jane and Robert
will lead a tour and discussion on designing for community life, moderated by
Mike Mariano of Schemata Workshop.

Join us for one event or all three to see how cohousing works on the ground,
from development and design to home sales and lived experience.

Warmly,
Trish Becker
