South Sonoma County Cohousing Group will be having two intro meetings on
Zoom this Monday, 7/6 at 5pm and 7pm. Email me for the Zoom link and more
information.

WHO WE ARE: We are currently a group of 5 households who have come
together out of a desire to create and live in a land-based cohousing
community. We have been meeting regularly for the last 6 months to develop
our core values and vision. We have come a long way, and we are also still
in formation. We are currently being approved for a loan and putting
together an offer on a bucolic and peaceful 12.75-acre property in
Penngrove, CA. We are looking for others who are aligned with our vision to
join us in creating a beautiful community.

VISION: We envision a multigenerational cohousing community in the
Cotati–Petaluma area where people live with meaningful connection, mutual
respect, and long-term financial stability. Our vision is a place where
neighbors know one another, support one another, and have both shared life
and personal space—where community is chosen, not imposed.

We imagine a setting that balances togetherness and autonomy: space to
gather, celebrate, garden, and share meals, alongside enough land for
privacy and solitude. We are exploring regenerative approaches to land
stewardship and localizing our resources.

MISSION: Our mission is to develop a small-scale, land-based cohousing
community rooted in clear communication, shared responsibility, and respect
for diverse perspectives. We aim to create financially responsible housing
for around 8–16 multigenerational households of all genders on
approximately 5–12 acres within a few miles of downtown Cotati.

We welcome non-mainstream viewpoints and diverse personal choices,
including differing approaches to health, diet, spirituality, and
vaccination. Our community embraces holistic healing practices, organic
gardening, and regularly shared community meals.

We are committed to:

   - Knowing our neighbors and maintaining open, honest communication
   - Learning and utilizing effective collaborative decision-making and
   consensus
   - Engaging in shared stewardship of land and property
   - Striving to regenerate social and natural systems through
   participatory, sustainable living
   - Supporting one another through positive as well as challenging times
   - Addressing conflict directly and respectfully using established
conflict resolution practices to work through issues that arise
   - Celebrating holidays and traditions across cultures and religions
   - Creating both spontaneous and planned community life around common
interests such as meals, music, movement, conversation, creativity and
   laughter
   - Doing our best to live with care, compassion, consideration,
connection, creativity, harmony, honesty, integrity, kindness,
   non-judgment, and more

Through regularly scheduled discussions and collaborative planning, we are
exploring how to live together in ways that are grounded, heart-centered
and sustainable—socially, ecologically, financially, and emotionally.

   - We plan that one lot will have a common house for gatherings and
   community use
