Re: Associate Membership. Does your communmity have this?

We had associates, then friends, and now we have affiliates..
The only problem with "friends" was that people thought it had to
include all our friends!

Here is the policy: https://mosaic-commons.org/affiliates

I don't remember why we changed from associates years ago.

Our affiliates are people who want to use our resources and join us regularly.
They must be known by two households to be proposed.
Only affiliates and members can be on our email lists or reserve our
common spaces.
Affiliates commonly use things like hot tub, laundry, music room
without a member host.
Most affiliates live nearby, including in the other coho on our same
property, or across the street from our neighborhood, or down the
road. Some were once members and may live further away but come to
visit and comment on our email discussions.
While affiliates are welcome to be part of decision making, few take part.

(Only members can engage money issues, only owners can engage HOA issues.)
All renters are encouraged to be members. Affiliates is only for
people not on campus.
Affiliates pay a sliding scale fee, most I assume pay about $5 per
month or $60 per year.
