RE: Common House Sound Proofing

Just another note on this topic. There are a few people in my community (and
I've heard this from others as well) who do not attend meals because they
are too loud and too chaotic. So there is this natural selection process for
new comers. They come to a dinner as part of their getting to know
community. If they can tolerate the chaos, noise of community meals (assuming
that is how your meals are) they inquire further, those that can't tolerate
that environment, don't. So loud, chaotic community meals may become a
filter for who joins you.

So over time, you will become a community of people who mostly tolerate loud
chaotic meals. The exact same is true for communities that have quiet
meditative meals. People who find that attractive are more likely to join,
those that find it repressive don't. There are several other factors which
over time will filter in or out new members. Sometimes you may not even
realize these factors are causing people to choose to live there.

So in the first five or six years you will have the greatest diversity you
will probably ever have, and then, slowly over time, the filters will change
the demographics as people move away and are replaced by others, who are
filtered by what you are and what you do.
