While I appreciate that there are people whose minds work in a particular way that makes PCs most desirable for them, most people are not like this. If people are asking advice on what kind of computer to buy they should most probably buy Macs, because if a PC machine were good for them, they would already know it. Unless the PC people are going to offer 24/7 support to all the people they tell to buy PCs, they should tell people to buy Macs!

Having access to a working computer is a major factor in the use of email in a community. We only have one (new renter) who is not on email and we have a Mac available in the commonhouse for everyone who does not have a computer at home or whose computer is down (PCs usually). We have an agreement to also put copies of important stuff on the bulletin board but it just doesn't happen unless it is an emergency.
