Aren't we all looking to justify our existences, however we can? Your
best bet might be to find people in a community looking for a housemate
willing to do a trade; for several years my rent on an apartment in
Berkeley was 10 hours a week of gardening and landscaping.

A key part of what gets cohousing built in the marketplace is the ability
of people to own and finance the property through conventional means.
There are often ways to stretch this by means of subsidies to the
community or individuals, but so far those have been relatively few
compared to the projects at large.
