Jeanne> Perhaps Jews feel it more necessary to remind people that we exist,
Racheli> Wow, it sounds like you have a serious chip on your shoulder:

I don't think so. I just don't like it when I feel forgotten or ignored. I
don't think that's a chip. I don't think most people do.

Racheli> I think that you must realize that if *everyone's* holidays were
taken
into account, the possibility of finding times to meet will be reduced to
somewhere around zero

Again. I disagree. We're not talking about any holiday. It's the most
important holiday. If the event were held on Purim or Sukkot you wouldn't
hear anything. If the most important holidays of the major religions
represented in the community were observed that leaves PLENTY of
opportunities.

Racheli> Maybe I should add that I've been to events on Jewish holidays, and
that
often quite a few Jews attend (myself included). My point it that not all
Jews are the same, or have the same attitudes towards Jewish holidays, or
anything else.

As a point in fact, I don't observe most holidays. I won't be observing Yom
Kippur. I just respect people who do -- just as I respect people who observe
Christmas, Ramadan, Dussehra and many more that I look forward to learning
about.
