Hi, >a scattered group of friends is interested in building a retreat-type >facility on land adjacent to mine, in south-central indiana. this same >group has also expressed interest in cohousing in the chicago area, >although several of us do not live there, but visit often. > >where do i start with these ideas? > > how to organize ownership? (2 different states in question here. ) > how to make sure rights and responsibilities are equal, when usage >won't be? how to manage occasional use (i.e. city vists)? My advice to you is to read Diana Christian's new book, Creating a Life Together, available though FIC at www.ic.org or from New Society Publishers. It addresses lots of these kinds of issues about start-up.
