At RoseWind, we do not assign jobs. Ever. It's all volunteer, by invitation, or by self nomination. About as close as we get to assigning is to post a chart with common house cleaning tasks listed, and lines where people can sign up. Ditto for cooking and cleanup for common meals. We could use a task force for x: are there people who'd be willing to do that? If something doesn't inspire anyone to sign up, we need to look at whether it is really something we should hire out (really rare), re-frame into another request, or subdivide, or not do, if nobody thinks it's important enough to volunteer for. It's worked for 15 years.
