We didn't use Tectum because some members didn't like the texture. We used fiberglass panels covered with a fine fabric called Sensa, not the burlap-like stuff. They glue the fabric to the panel so the fiberglass is sealed in and not a health hazard. The panels are then glued to the wall. They are very light.

What I noticed immediately is that if 10 people are yelling, you hear 10 people yelling -- their individual voices -- rather than a din. Before the panels it sounded like a roar and nothing was distinguishable. People still have to speak up to be heard across the room but now you hear them distinctly when they do.

Acoustical treatments are addictive. Now I want to do every surface in the kitchen, kids room, etc. We could us it also for the living room where people watch television. It makes a huge difference. Budget for it up front. At least $10,000 but $20,000 would be better.
