At RoseWind, Port Townsend WA, we have no storage units. We have
single-family homes, so most people have the storage they want, at
their home.
Another angle, though, is personal space at the Common House. In the planning phase, I imagined having something like lockers where a person could keep their guitar, laptop, knitting, book, for use at the CH, but not left out for anyone to pick up. We didn't end up with space for that, but I still think it would have been useful. What we do have is a shelf unit in the foyer with a spot for each household. Most have colorful plastic bins from IKEA (probably made for toys) -- very approximately 18"x 10x10, in which to keep slippers, return borrowed items, put non-postal "mail". Most people use these regularly. My own cubby has, instead, a compact plastic drawer unit, with three shallow drawers, as I am the drop-spot for various payments and filled-out forms.
