I needed to decide whether to use the washer/dryer space in my unit for laundry or use it as a pantry and I opted for the pantry. It was a good choice for me. I like doing my laundry early in the day in the Common House and being able to use all three washers and 2 dryers at the same time. It's much faster than running laundry all day at home. I think 3 washers and 2 dryers is just right for our community of 34 units, 25 of which use the Common House machines. I wish we had more space, though, for line-drying and storage of laundry baskets that get left behind. Keep in mind when planning hook ups in the bigger units for those with bigger families, that frequently, families with young children can only afford the smaller 2-bedroom units and it's the older folks without kids that end up buying the 3 and 4 bedroom units. We're not using commercial machines and so far it is working fine. Opt for the simplest machines possible, because with the variety of users, the changes back and forth between liquid and powdered detergents and complex programming can create problems.
