What about doing a Kickstarter Campaign as well so family and friends can 
contribute smaller amounts.

If 4 people connected to each of the members of your group. If each adult can 
recruit donations from 4 people  and you have 50 adults, that's 200 
contributors. 200 contributors X $50 would be $10,000.

I don’t want the list to become a solicitation list but there are probably 
others who donate $10-25 just to feel good about helping.
