We too don’t allow dogs in our Common House except for service animals (who
have access by law). The problem is allergies. Also varying opinions about
what constitutes “under control”. Dogs who jump up on people are not under
control. We require folks with service animals to vacuum wherever their
animals have been to protect our allergy sufferers. We once had a guest in our
guest room who had what she claimed was a service dog but it clearly had not
been trained and jumped up on people. It was a big dog who nearly knocked some
folk over. Caused much upset in the Community and that guest was never allowed
back.
Pet issues of various kinds have caused some of our greatest challenges
as a Community.
