Sara, rereading your post, it occurs to me that to prevent this happening again, rather than restrictive policies, you may need a better recruitment method for real cohousing candidates. I know Ann Zabaldo has a process at Takoma Village that helps folks sell their units. One aspect is keeping your community in the awareness of potential future buyers. Takoma " Sales and rental" webpage <https://www.takomavillage.org/page/39042~1039777/sales-and-rentals>summarizes how they do that. In addition the other residents help with the tours and open houses, and I guess generate a little cash for the community. This way they have an email notification list of Possible buyers they can call on when people have to move quickly as you said. Best of luck, Becca
