I think the chart of accounts is so helpful in understanding how a community 
functions. All the things it has to think about. A file of these would be of 
more help to starting communities than anything else.

It’s similar to the discussion we had about storage in the Common House. One 
member finally asked, but what do you put in it. From someone who had never 
seen a cohousing community and is in the middle of planning one, that was the 
best question. We had been discussing how necessary it was, and not to forget 
it.

Sitting down to do a budget for a community is like starting from a blank 
slate. Obviously each community has different geographic and legal requirements 
but just comparing many charts of accounts gives  you a starting place.
