Hello Zev and cohousers,
Here at Liberty Village in Frederick MD we are facing the same situation. For
20 years up until the pandemic, we had about five meals a month, with rotating
cook teams who paid for everything and then everyone ate free - saved a lot of
bookwork. We asked people to sign up for the cook team if they were going to
come to eat and each of us cooked about once a month. We served a vegetarian
and meat entree but that was the only dietary requirements we had.

We are just now re-opening our common house and starting with cook teams. Our
participation of everything has gone down in the last three years so we are not
sure how many will be interested in this. Someone in this thread mentioned that
the lack of participation may be tied to unresolved tensions and I think that
may be true here.

We are going to try some fun things to get back the relatedness we had before
Covid. Chuck says that eating and working together are the glue that holds the
community together. We are having challenges with participation also. I'll be
interested in seeing this thread continue to see what results people have in
restoring the fun and commitment to sharing that we had before Covid.

Subject: [C-L]_ Shared Meals

Hello Cohousers,

Here at Nomad Cohousing in Boulder, Colorado we have been able to offer 2 meals
a week for almost our entire 25 years except for a year plus during COVID when
they were on hold.

Since the resumption of meals about a year ago we are seeing a constantly low
turnout and am wondering how other communities deal with flagging meal
participation?
