At Swans Market Cohousing in Oakland we use both email and hanging notes on
people’s front door (our doors are metal clad so most of us have magnets on our
door to facilitate this note hanging).  We also put notices on the Common House
door.  Of course a lot of discussion and information passing also occurs at
common dinner.  We have separate email addresses for committees as well as a
community wide one.  Not everyone reliably checks email so we resort to notes
on doors for urgent important stuff.  We also have comeals (an online calendar
page) where we list cooks and menus for common dinners and reserve the common
house for events like movie night or parties or meetings and also can reserve
the guest room
and the community zoom.  Bonnie FergussonOakland,CA

Hi Maggi,

At Green Grove Cohousing, we primarily use Slack for our community
communications. We've set up various channels: some for topics relevant to
all residents, and others for specific work circles or special interests.

We also have optional channels for more casual topics, such as sharing
travel photos or random interesting finds. A particularly popular channel
is "kudos," where residents can acknowledge and thank individuals or teams
for their outstanding contributions.

We use the free version of Slack, which means messages are only retained
for 90 days. For any important discussions or decisions made on Slack, we
make sure to copy them to an archive. Slack has been relatively easy to
use, even for our less tech-savvy residents, and its mobile apps are very
convenient.
