Members of Cantine's Island have unanimously agreed that the community shall be
 founded on the Cohousing style of living, including balance between public and
 private space, common house integral to the community, clustered housing, sepa
ration of automobiles, child-friendly environment, and consensus. Environmental
 stewardship: doing as little damage as possible to the environment in construc
ting and living on the property, repairing damage that has been done, encouragi
ng healthy ecological diversity. Affordability: housing to be available to indi
viduals and families with a range of incomes. Equality: each member has a voice
 in all decisions. Each member accepts responsibility for community affairs. Co
mmunity powers: the group as a whole has control over all affairs that affect t
he community, including occupancy and use of all structures and property.  --Le
