<< Buzz, are you saying everyone posts a profile helter skelter and then we all
cut and paste our own compilation? wouldn't it be much easier if one person
(Rob has volunteered?) collected all the profiles and then sent them out as
one item - whether text file, data base, hard copy or whatever. >>

1. I think it's great Rob is willing to collect this.
2. If someone sent me a file containing 100 profiles of people, there is no way
in the world I would read it. It would take hours, and being a former data base
manager, this does not sound like fun to me.
3. I've found that computers enable us to save phenomenal amounts of data. This
is more a curse than blessing; as many have noticed, there is a big difference
between data and usefull information. Therefore, I personally would rather hear
from people as they are inspired than a big electronic chunk. It's more real,
it's more natural, it's how I relate to people in real life: one at a time, as
they come into my life. I don't attend meetings of 100 people for a reason.
This List is not a data base to me; it's individual people; I wish to relate
to them as such.
4. I still think the crux of the issue is getting people to do it. So I'll
mention again, as Mike M just did, that a standard Template is the way to go.
Included with snip lines for each new subscriber, it would make it easier for
someone to compile, and most of all, makes it easier for quiet types to respond.
5. The following is clipped from another list I'm on; this message appears once
a week to the whole list. There are about 300 subscribers (about same as here)
and the method works well.

<< * if you haven't done so yet, no matter how long you've been on,
you should post your running bio to the list as soon as you get
a chance...if you deleted the instructions you got when you first
signed on, write me, I'll tell you what to do.... >>
(from the list owner)

I will certainly support any solution however!
