Several folks like digest mode.  Although I shouldn't clog the list with 
more opinions on this meta-topic, here I go anyway...

I like to put messages into folders named "coho heating", "coho 
site/design", "coho legal", etc.  In digest mode, I can't scan and split up 
individual messages.  It takes just as long to download 40 little messages 
as to download 2 big messages.  You can also save disk space and keep better 
quality archives by deleting non-interesting messages, saving the good 
stuff.  Plus, when you reply, your mailer says "Re: All this mail!!" instead 
of "Re: coho digest #NNNN"

Now all you non-digest readers can (and will, no doubt) delete this.
